New Vote Chess Championship Starting!
There is a new vote chess championship that has just started. It is a 32 team elimination format, with 6 rounds.
The first round is now going. Here is the link to the game. Please join! https://www.chess.com/votechess/game/200399
Right now the first round is starting. Please note: there will be no elimination involved if we lose this game, but it will affect standings on tiebreaks in the future. It is very important that we win this first game.
There are some very specific exceptions in this championship:
1. Each game(except the first) will be a maximum of thirty moves long. At least, only the first 30 moves will matter for our standings. The reasons for this are simple. This is a six round elimination, and we can't have the games taking forever. So if one team is leading by a +5 or -5 point margin after the first 30 moves, the winning team moves on. If this is not the case, then most of the time the person who won their first game(hence the importance of our first game for tiebreaks) will move on, at least most of the time. Some other exceptions can be made, which you can look at in the rules post here: https://www.chess.com/news/view/2021-vote-chess-championships-rules-guidelines
However, just to clarify, we are in the first round. The first round will go on indefinitely until all of the games are decided. This is because the first round is important in regards to tiebreaks.
Hope everything was clear. If not, the link a few lines above shows some detailed rules for the format.
