WEB SITE: Finally, we have a web presence! https://www.greatlakeschessleague.com/

Please keep in mind I threw this together today, so it's far from polished, but it should take care of what I need it to, and that's to offer registration for the upcoming USCF Online tournaments. Due to the cost of reporting results and the time involved, it isn't free to enter, but it is the cheapest USCF Online tournament I know of that's not put on by USCF themselves, entry for this Saturday's tournament is just $3. If we get a good turnout I'll just keep it at $3, otherwise I'll have it jump to $5, but that's undecided.

WEEKLY USCF ONLINE TOURNAMENTS: The tournaments will take place at 2pm EST each Saturday. They will be 4 rounds with a 30|5 time control, chess.com and USCF online rated.

For the time being I will have one open division, depending on turnout I will increase it to ensure competitive matches, and you will have access to whatever division you want to join on the day of, as long as you paid registration and provided an active USCF ID.

For the time being I am putting a halt to the other tournaments... Let me know if this is something that angers you, but I figure I can put my and the other admin's efforts toward offering a fully featured league and USCF tournaments, rather than continuing to put on empty chess.com tourneys.

GRAND PRIX/SPARRING LEAGUE: In addition to the weekly USCF Online tournaments, we are instituting a Grand Prix, and a sparring league. You will get Grand Prix points for league play (GLLCL team and Sparring League), for entering and for winning/placing in tournaments. These points will be applied toward seeding in our Grand Prix tournament to take place at some point in the future (end of 2022). The Grand Prix tournament will have prizes! I'm hoping to have cash and membership prizes, but that is all turnout dependent.

The sparring league is being fleshed out now, full site functionality to hit later this week, but essentially it's an incentive to play your fellow Great Lakes Chess League members, in whatever form that you like best! Any games 30 minute or longer, rated or not, variations accepted, between two club members, can be submitted to the site for Grand Prix points! Very soon I intend on implementing a pairing feature to this, so you can get a pairing each week, but now and then and always you will have the ability to submit any game that isn't a part of another league or tournament. Both the winner and loser will be awarded Grand Prix points (either 1 and .5 or 1 and 2) for each valid submission.

SUGGESTIONS/ADMIN APPLICATIONS: As always I'm open for suggestions and applications for admins. If you have either of these either message me here or brett@brettkozmadesigns.com
