Next ECF Online Tournament

ECF are starting a new 2021 Online County tournament very shortly with player registration on the 11th June 2021 and the first round the day after on the 12th . Looking to enter a team in the U1800 grade limited section.

Online County Championships this summer

Season 2 sees a streamlined format, with qualifying Swiss team tournaments for each of the Semi-Finals/Finals of the three Championships-
Open, Minor Open 1900 (maximum average team rating) and U1800 (all players under 1800). Click here for a synopsis … 

All games are played at 6:30pm on Saturday evening at G60/15 on the Chess.com platform.

Qualifiers – 12th & 18th June, 3rd & 17th July & 21st August
Finals – Semi-Final 11th September (advances to 4th September should the over-the-board regional competition not be held) and all Finals on 18th September.

The National U1400 will once again be played alongside R5 & the September Finals stage matches.

Contact your County Association team captains or secretaries if you are interested in representing your county. Whilst ECF membership at a minimum of Supporter level is required, why not take advantage of the ECF’s offer to extend any membership taken out now until the end of August 2022 and help support your local clubs and leagues prepare for the return of over-the-board chess too – 15 months for the price of 12 !

Eligibility
A player is eligible to represent one of the historical counties of England (or a combined county team) in the Championships if the player is a 2020/21 ECF member or supporter, is not barred from ECF online clubs, has an active Chess.com playing account, and meets one of the following criteria —

  1. birth in that county;
  2. five years’ domicile in that county at any time;
  3. two months’ immediate previous and present membership of a club either in or affiliated to that county;
  4. one month’s immediately previous and present domicile in that county;
  5. present attendance as a student at a school, college or university in that county.
