Tournament Links and Results
I will update this post each week with the link to the next week's tournament and the results of our previous tournaments.
Our Next Tournaments
- Search for "SBCC" under "connect" and "clubs" on chess.com. Ask to join the club. Provide the player's name so I know who it is, and I will approve it.
- We have a list of players that are posted on the club page that is only visible to members of the club. For kids who are joining the U1000 section, the default will be to list them with their first name only. It is nice to know who you are actually playing, but we also recognize that parents may not want full identities put out there on the web (even if it is only visible to club members).

Week of May 23: Saturday's tournament had some great games, with Catherine and Sophia having great tournaments. They finished 3-1, just behind Nathan's 3.5-.5. I'm not sure how chess.com decided the Bughouse pairings on Monday, but Gabriel and Nathan came out on top, with Sophia and Declan just behind. And finally, Wednesday's blitz tournament had Nathan, Gabriel, and YeWei finishing 1-2-3, with Isabella L just behind in 4th place.
Week of May 16: Monday's Chess960 Arena had an incredibly tight finish. David and Gabriel shot out to a big lead in the Arena and finished with 21 points. Therese caught them at the end and Nathan reached 22 points with just minutes to go to take 1st place. YeWei won the Wednesday blitz with a perfect 5-0 score, with Catherine coming in second at 4-1. Zach also had a very nice tournament with a 3-2 finish.
Week of May 9: YeWei won our Saturday tournament, with Therese, Nathan, and Catherine finishing tied for 2nd; Gabriel ran out to massive lead and held on for first in the Monday crazyhouse tournament, with Nathan and David finishing tied for 2nd; and then Gabriel ruled the day again on Wednesday blitz, with a perfect finish. Therese and Catherine finished tied for 2nd.
Week of May 2: We had two smaller sections for the Saturday tournament, with Anael (of Fort Wayne) and Nathan taking the lower and upper sections with perfect score. I said that three-check is silly, and Monday lived up to this! In the one hour Arena, Therese managed to go 22-2, Nathan was 19-2, and David went 15-7. The Wednesday blitz had Nathan, Gabriel, and Gavin finishing 1-2-3.
Week of April 25: Our Saturday tournament had two sections with longer time controls. Gabriel and Nathan tied at 3-0 in the upper section and Leo won the lower section with a perfect 3-0 finish as well. Monday's crazyhouse tournament lived up to its name. David managed to get 37 points in the Arena to run away with the tournament. Wednesday blitz was won by Yewei, with Nathan, Therese, and Gavin a point behind.
Week of April 18: Our Saturday tournament crashed after three rounds so no results there. Our Monday Chess960 Arena ended with Gabriel and Yewei (of Fort Wayne) tied for first place, with Therese coming in third and Peter in fourth with a very strong showing. Nathan went 5-0 in the Wednesday blitz tournament to take first place.
Week of April 11: We had two fun tournaments this week! Gavin (of Canterbury School) took first place in Wednesday blitz, with Therese, Nathan, and Gabriel tying for second. On Monday the craziness of the Chess960 Arena ended with Nathan and Gabriel tied on top, with David and Zach in the next two spots.
