Nimzo-Indian Defense
Our Today’s topic is Nimzo-Indian Defensewhich is a fierce defence against the Queen’s Pawn opening (d4).
It was invented by Aron Nimzowitsch around 1865.The Nimzo Indian is considered as the best response against d4 our main idea is to exchange our light square bishop with our opponent’s knight as the knight would occupy more space in the Middle Game so it’s better to exchange it in the start.Once we exchange our light square bishop our next target should be developing our minor pieces especially the knight.Tip-In the Nimzo Indian the bishop pair advantage is useless we should go for the knight pair advantage. So once we get the knight pair advantage we should try to keep the position closed. Here we allow our opponent to occupy the center so that we would get some counterplay in the endgame like promoting our corner pawns. So,here’s how you play the Nimzo-Indian Defense:-
1.d4 Nf3 2.c4 e3 3.Nc3 Bg4 pinning the knight 4.a3 Bxc3 bxc3 and white has a weak alone pawn on a3.
Variation no.2
1.d4 Nf3 2.c4 e3 3.Nc3 Bg4 4.Bd2 unpinning the knight Bxc3 5.Bxc3 d5 6.cxd5 exd5. Here the bishop is blocked by the pawn on d4 therefore the bishop isn’t developed so we can develop our pieces and win the game.
