I hope everyone has had a fun and chessful summer! We've been chugging along every Wednesday night at HasenStüble, as well as most nice Saturday afternoons at the LeFrak Center in Prospect Park. Well now we have an exciting new announcement...
Vanderbilt Avenue Open Streets
The Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council has invited the Prospect Park Chess Club to participate in the Vanderbilt Ave Open Street event taking place tomorrow night, Thursday, August 24th from 6PM to 7:30PM at Underhill Plaza (intersection of Atlantic Ave, Washington Ave, and Underhill Ave).
We are very excited about the opportunity that this event provides - both for the club and for the community - and we hope that many of you fine folks that regularly join us on Wednesdays and/or Saturdays will be able to swing by and show your support for both PPCC and the Open Streets initiative. We are treating this first event as a trial run, so let's show up in force (and invite friends!) so that we can secure a more permanent partnership with the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council.
What Else is Going On at PPCC?
We've been enjoying the beautiful weather that this summer has blessed us, as you can see by all the beautiful folks enjoying themselves outside (and inside, too - now that the AC is fixed!) of HasenStüble.
We're also planning our next variant tournament - and believe me when I tell you to hold on to your seats, because I've been personally concocting/reviving a variant that hasn't been played for hundreds of years (and maybe for good reason - we'll all find out together!) Keep an eye out for the forthcoming announcement.
