For those of you who do not know what a passed pawn is, a passed pawn is a pawn that is no longer obstructed by another pawn on its file and cannot be attacked by any other pawn on the board. Passed pawns are extremely dangerous in the endgame. Cliff is going to create one and me flipping out definitely did not help matters. If you want to see the entire game you can but to study the passed game begin at move 39.
Cliff plays a strong positional move by moving king to C4. I felt like my next move was the blunder at the time, but its actually they way I respond on move 41 that loses the game. If I capture the pawn instead I am likely headed into a winning endgame. Instead, I panicked, seeing the passed pawns potential and thinking I had already adopted a losing endgame and tried to run out his clock. Cliff ended up having little trouble finishing me off after this critical error.
