Patterns
I will now be taking a break with classic games in our forum. We will now take a look at some very consistent patterns in chess; patterns being the basis of our beloved sport. Checkmate patterns will be shown and discussed for further improvement among members. Remember, the situations I will go over are unique in themselves, whats important is that one can pick up these patterns in their own games. Master these checkmate patterns and not only can one pull their opponent, but one will have achieved a skill set many chess players ignore to learn. If one can recognize these checkmate patterns and/or similar positions, one can recognize tactical play. Master the patterns and then, and only then, does one embark on studying strategy. Without learning decent strategical play one can become a master; one cannot become a master if they can't pick up patterns and tactical calculation. Mikhail Tal is living proof- all patterned tactical precision which was ruthless. These patterns should form the basis of one's tactical study.
