Phoenix Chess League Under 1400 Thematic Team Match Competition!

Greetings Fellow Magnus Carlsen Fans,

I am pleased to announce that our club will compete in Season 1 of the Under 1400 thematic team match competition organized by the Phoenix Chess League!  This new league is planning to organize competitions that have a different character than those offered by other leagues.  Besides the thematic competition, they are also currently organizing a "Slow Chess" 7 day per move team match competition and a "Fast" Vote Chess 1-day per move competition.

Anyway, our division of the Under 1400 thematic team match competition includes the following clubs: Bad Players Club, Magnus Carlsen's fan club, Mighty Masters, Opening Book Club, The Ge-Winner, The Nature Lovers Club, Universal Club Of All Countries, and Union of Rising Phoenix. 

Registration is underway for our club's Round 1 team match against Mighty Masters.  The featured opening is the Italian Game (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4).  The games are scheduled to begin on July 27.  Please join the match and support our club!

Later in the season --- which has a total of 7 rounds --- the featured openings will include the Sicilian Defense, the French Defense, the Ruy Lopez, the Slav Defense, the Dutch Defense, and the Indian Defense.

I hope that our club's Under 1400 players will have lots of fun exploring some of these openings in the next few months!
