Puzzle Battles Released to Beta
Puzzle Rush doesn't have to be a solo operation anymore! Cue Puzzle Battles, where you pit your rush skills vs other members of similar ability in a challenge to see who can solve more puzzles in 3 minutes. (More time controls to come.)
This is your new hub for all things puzzle related. Rated and Learning have been combined into Training and a new slot for Battles is tacked on to the right. https://www.chess.com/puzzles/battle is a direct link, but you can access Battles from either Play->Puzzle Rush or Learn->Puzzles. Soon, Battles will have its own slot in the navigation menu.
Note: While Puzzle Battle is in beta, it will be unlimited for all members. Once released, Basic members will be able to Battle and Rush once per day.
The Battle
When you start a new battle you will be paired vs an opponent of similar rating (as close as possible) similar to live chess. Each of you will be served the same set of puzzles to solve at the same time. 3 strikes and you are done solving.
At the end of three minutes, whoever solves the most puzzles wins. If tied, then least number of strikes wins. If equal puzzles and equal strikes, you draw.
Seasons
Along with Battles, comes Seasons which start fresh each month. you will earn a season point per correct puzzle solved during a battle whether you win or lose the battle.
Going on a winning streak will give you a multiplier. Win two in a row and get double points, 3 in a row gets you triple and on and on with no limit. Lose or draw a battle and lose your streak.
Observe
If solving puzzles is your cup of tea, you are welcome to watch some high level solving with observe mode:
Just choose your battle to watch, and you'll be able to see both player's progress at the same time on our new dual board layout.
Other
- Currently we don't have direct challenge support, but it is coming.
- We have found some bug in rematch function but would appreciate any help fleshing those out.
- As Beta is a fairly small club, you might want to try plan to seek at the same time as others as there might not be many players seeking at the same time.
