Quit while you're ahead
That's what they say you should do, "Quit while you're ahead".
And that's what I have decided to do with the 1...b6 group. The group was created for linksspringer as a vote chess group dedicated to the opening "1...b6" and the circumstances which arise from that opening move.
I personally do not play 1...b6. I am not a strong enough chess player in general to confront the problems issued forth by White against 1...b6. And I have never claimed otherwise. I created this group for linksspringer at his request, due to my appreciation for his contributions to the vote chess in the 1.b3 group and I have maintained this group for seven years; greeting nearly every new member and starting nearly every new vote chess game and dealing with every problem and complaint, all the while trying to discover and maintain the highest standards of team play for vote chess. During that time no other person has expressed any interest in contributing any time or effort to this group, aside from participating in the vote chess games.
And now participation in the vote chess games is barely a trickle, there hasn't been a new strategy topic in the forum for a year, and linksspringer is gone and the chess.com vote chess system is broken and can no longer be trusted to make the moves we vote for.
I announced it several months ago that vote chess would end when the current game "for the Gipper" is finished. I have sent personal invitations to certain members asking them to be Super Admins and I have made it known that the position is open to just about anyone. If there were a true leader for this group they would have emerged and begun volunteering to help out several months ago.
If some of you are suddenly interested in running this group then I can only say that it is too little too late. If you want a vote chess group for 1...b6 then I suggest you do what I did; create your own and run it however you want.
I am not of a mind to turn over seven years of my time, labor and dedication to those who suddenly show an interest at the very last minute. Where were you six months ago? Where were you six years ago?
So I suggest you start your own 1...b6 vote chess group and I believe you'll be glad that you did. And I wish you success with it.
