R2GM OVC - 1st Variant Championships Tournament - Register
I decided to use my "Insert Pieces here" Variant for our Variant Championships. Below I will describe in detail the tournament and the variant.
Tournament format: Match - Two Teams will be formed and lined up according to their highest variant rating

How to play the Variant "Insert Pieces Here":
Object: To get the opponent in Checkmate
Starting position:
Move one is the move that the King is place in. The King may be placed ANYWHERE on the board excepting squares that are already occupied. After both sides have placed their king the Game begins.
Beginning on Move two each player has two options:
- Move a piece already on the board
- Place a piece that has not yet been placed [ie; one of your two Rooks, two Knights, Two Bishops (Black colored and white Colored) or one Queen]
When placing a piece you MUST place it on a rank behind a pawn. If you move a pawn forward two spaces you will be able to place a piece on any of the first three ranks in front of you. As your pawn moves forward you begin to have more "territory" that you claimed and you have more of an advantage because you can place a pieces closer to the enemy.
