Round Two League News! (Rd. Three Update)
With round two complete and a new addition to the standings, we're excited to announce round three pairings!

We had a house game between myself and NM Bryan Leano. Bryan played at a great pace, forcing white to use almost all of it to avoid major mistakes. I was low on time, pushed my pawn too far, and lost a Bishop.
Board four had a solid game between Stephen Broderick and Lenden Rhodes. Even missing a mate in one early in the opening. Despite this, neither side seemed to find a winning advantage until Lenden broke through under time pressure.
At board three, Jason Barton played against Anthony Rhodes. Jason has small advantage after winning a free pawn and tries to get an early attack on the f7-pawn. Black had great counter play after 'Fried Liver-like' 7. ... d5. Anthony even finds an advantage, but loses it by attacking the queen and trading a knight for a pawn.
Board two had Mario Homer play against Hank Costner in a Giuoco Piano game. The game was pretty even, living up to the opening's name, until Mario damages Hank's pawn structure on move 12. Hank returns the favor on move 14. Both sides try to improve their pieces but end up exchanging them, and even finds a free pawn at the end. Unfortunately, no win was found and ends in a King & Knight vs King draw.
Finally, board one had Anthony Thompson play against Andre Herrera in a high risk match. Andre starts off weakening Anthony's kingside. Anthony them replies by launching a risky attack on Andre's kingside as well, but fails to pay off with no win in sight.
Two rounds down, two more to go. With the final results still too close to call, we're excited to see how things shake out!
