Recurring Online Live Tournaments
Dear Improvers,
We’re thrilled to announce two exciting tournament formats coming your way in 2026, created especially for our amazing Improvers community!
1. Sunday Rapids
Back by popular demand! Our Sunday Rapids feature five fast-paced rounds of G/10+2 and have been a weekly favorite. In 2026, we’ll be offering adjusted start times to better accommodate players in eastern regions, making it easier than ever to jump in and play.
2. Improvers Marathon
After the huge success of our pilot event, we’re going all in! Many of you told us you loved the longer time controls, so in 2026, we’ll be hosting four Improvers Marathons throughout the year.
Each marathon will include:
- 5 rounds total
- 2 weeks per round, giving you plenty of time to schedule and play
- Updated rating sections for fair and competitive pairings:
- Under 800
- 800–1199
- 1200–1599
- 1600+
We hope this provides a well-balanced and accessible set of sections for everyone.
Tentative Schedule:
- Marathon 1: Start The Year Right Marathon
- Registration until January 25
- Rounds: January 26 – April 5
- Marathon 2
- Registration until April 12
- Rounds: April 13 – June 21
- Marathon 3
- Registration until June 28
- Rounds: June 29 – September 6
- Marathon 4
- Registration until September 13
- Rounds: September 14 – November 22
