Red Army vs. Chess Unlimited FSVL Game Report
NOW that I'm fully recovered from the intense excitement of the past day and a half, I thought, "to attempt to submit a comprehensive report of this singular activity of our group was in order".
Red Army beat Chess Unlimited 1-0 in the Fortnight Speed Vote-chess League (10 minute per move team vote-chess), on Saturday 28th, that much you should know by now.
CONGRATULATIONS! to both teams; Red Army (Man Utd. too) due to the win in their game this weekend; and to Chess Unlimited for proving worthy... 'victims'

PLAYING Black in the 56 move battle which lasted 19 hours; RA withstood the heavy hitters of CU who played White. CU is one of the bigger (>2000 strong) and better organized groups on Chess.com.
Black played a 'Sicilian Scheveningen' (B80) defence transpose English Attack to White's opening e5. Surprisingly, on move 13 White's databases, as sourced from their own game comments, showed that Black had the better position; ~30 - 10 - 60. However White's Queen-side castle move had balanced their game, and threatened to upset Black's equilibrium advancing their King-side pawns. Black never castled, and controlled the center though skillful sorties with their Knights.
The game only turned when RA, eschewing the gasps from skeptics in the observers gallery, made a daring Bishop sac on move 30. ...Be4+! which launched a defence devastating combination on White's Queen-side King castle, and gained a pawn advantage.
It was downhill for CU from there with the 1st resign vote coming soon after, move 34. They fought tenaciously, sacrificing their Rook for RA's domineering black square Bishop to go further behind in the point total. Despite their pleas for a draw, from then on it was always only a matter of time...
Special thanks to EternalHope, who played from start-finish (You gotta love this guy, get some deserved R&R partner, I'll send you a trophy); Aldums and myself, who were there for most of the game. Honourable mention too, to the players who are members of both groups who choose to join RA! seems you made the right choice.
We celebrate everyone who participated and contributed or supported, from both groups. As we say in the Caribbean "NUFF RESPECT". Now everyone knows that Red Army is the one to watch!
