RULES FOR SPEED VOTE CHESS GAMES

Hi all,

Just thought I would remind everyone of the 'basic' rules for this group and for playing in these speed tournaments.

Saturdays are default days to play

Firstly, Saturdays are the set days for these tournaments, UNLESS both group leaders AGREE on a different day of the week to play, but if they don't, then the games must be held on a Saturday, as most people either work or have school/uni on Mondays-Fridays. Because the games often go for more than 24 hours, it also rules out Sundays as a start day. If your opponent will not agree to ANY Saturday of the month in question, then you need to notify HQ in the group notes, and either William or myself will step in and set a Saturday date and time that the game must be played.

1 Hour Grace Period to show up at agreed time, only.

Also, teams are given 1 hour grace period to turn up to accept the challenge from that set time. If they are more than 1 hour late, then their opponent has the right to declare a win by forfeit, play later or reschedule, as long as it will be within the set month timeframe to play the match. It is totally up to the team who did show up which choice they want to make.

Important to have confirmation of day/time in writing.

Also it is very important to have confirmation of agreed date and time in writing. Once you do achieve this confirmation, we ask that you post that confirmed date and time in the HQ's group notes, and keep all of your correspondence. Only proof of written confirmations by both parties will qualify for grounds to claim a win by forfeit.

Touch base with your Opponent 1-2 days prior to agreed start time

I also stress that you touch base with your opponent 24-48 hours prior to the agreed start time to A. remind your opponent of the set date and time, and B. to show you are set to play as agreed.

William or myself will set a date and time if negotiations fail

If everyone follows these rules, then there should be no confusion or ongoing persistent arguments. As I said above, William and I are here to assist if anyone is having trouble getting their opponent to agree to a set date and time.

Any teams/admins who show a lack of co-operation with these rules will not be able to participate in future tournaments.

Thanks

Babs Smile
