Saturday Chess Closing Up Shop Indefinitely

Dear Members and Friends,

I'm posting this announcement to let everyone know that I will no longer be hosting Saturday chess at the mall or anywhere else for the rest of the summer. 

Attendence at our Saturday meetups has been steadily declining throughout the year. Most Saturdays it's me and one or two other players; many times it's just me. I live about 30 minutes away from Red Deer and it no longer seems justifiable to continue spending my time and fuel to come in. This group has been great in the past, but it seem it's no longer fun for everyone with such a tiny number of semi-regular players.

I'm not closing the door forever. There is a chance I might try to get things going again this winter when I am working less, and perhaps some people are more inclined to sit over a chess board when there's less to do outside.

Of course, you shouldn't let me stepping away stop you from doing your own thing. I would certainly recommend bringing your own set and posting a note if you intend to come so that others know. If anyone in the group wants to take a crack at organizing a new meetup I am very happy to promote you to Super Admin so you can make announcements and such. DM me on this site if so.
