SATURDAY DISCUSSION WITH ROOKIE SENSATION SCISCA
I sat down with the rookie sensation from England Scisca to have a one on one about chess and the upcoming 2022 Independence Day Tournament.
Eledef07: Scisca first and foremost thanks for being with us this evening I know it’s later where you are in England. First question am I pronouncing your screen handle correctly?
Scisca: Yes thanks - you are pronouncing my handle correctly.
Eledef07: Scisca how did you become interested in chess?
Scisca: I became interested in chess at school - an enthusiastic teacher ran the chess club for about a year, he then unfortunately left - my interest waned for many years - but more recently I found a chess club in my town and renewed my interest. After a while Covid arrived and the club closed - I have been told it will re-open in September for over the board chess.
Eledef07: Scisca you have risen quickly in Let’s Castle including going 4-0 in team match play so far and dominating the triple digit tournament by going an awe inspiring 12-0 undefeated. The first time that has occurred in that tournament. What do you attribute to your brilliant performance in the 2022 triple digit tournament?
Scisca: Thank you for your compliments about my performance in the triple digit tournament - with respect to all my opponents I was lucky and skillful enough to win.
Eledef07: Since joining Let’s Castle you have amassed a 66-0-2 record which is absolutely jaw dropping and as a result there have been some whispers around the club that you may be cheating or using a chess engine. What do you say to those rumors?
Scisca: I am disappointed that there are negative rumours about my play - all I can say is I don't cheat - perhaps as time passes and chess.com don't close my account your members will see the integrity of my play.
Eledef07: One more question …. I see you have joined the Independence Day tournament you’ll be vying for your first LC title. Are there any opponents you look forward to facing and conversely are there any opponents you would rather avoid and why?
Scisca: With regard to the Independence Day Tournament, I am looking forward to playing ALL my opponents - regardless of reputation or grade - I will be playing the board at all times looking for the best move!
Eledef07: Scisca it was an absolute honor to chop it up with you today, good luck in the upcoming tournament and I wish you success for the rest of the season.
Scisca: eledef07, thank you for the opportunity to answer your questions - and many thanks to you for running this club - it is a pleasure to be part of it.
