SBV Update 2.0: Tournaments, new types of submissions and more!
Welcome, dear members of the club! Today i am proud to share some news and additions to the club that were added recently. I will go over them one by one, starting with a brand new type of submission!
The first type of submission is 'Custom Position', or CP in short. Any 8x8 variants without custom piece or royals that can be played on the main server counts as a CP variant!
CP variants get played in the tournaments that the club organizes daily, and in case your CP submission gets accepted you can see others play your variant in a tournament too! But how do you submit the variant? Well, it is easy, follow these steps:
- Join the Variants Universe Club, it is a sub-club of SugarBlossom where you submit variants!
- Click on 'New Topic' button, and make a forum with your submission. Use this guide to submit a variant. After you are done, your forum needs to look like this:
- Wait for the verdict and hopefully see an acception The standards for CP's are not that high, but the positions still need to be balanced, not forced and enjoyable.
We already made a few test tournaments with custom positions and it ended up being a success, so we hope to see more CP submissions! Custom position tournaments will be also organized daily, so please join them and have fun!
Yes, we are introducing hall of fame! Do get in, you just have to complete a tittle in one of chess variants! Sounds hard, right? Well it is actually not that impossible, you just have to follow these steps:
- Join this club where we play variants and calculate ratings
- Choose a variant from this forum you want to play and play some games of it with others
- Send your games links to the forums, we will calculate your rating! For example, if you played to games of 'Little Star', send them in 'Little Star' forum.
Here are the ratings you need to get for a tittle:
M (Master) - 2000+, 20+ games
GM (GrandMaster) - 2150+, 50+ games
SM (SugarMaster) - 2300+, 100+ games

The third thing i want to tell you is that the community variant project is still going. Let's please not let it die and keep it alive 
This is the latest version of the variant, feel free to improve it and send your thought in the testing workshop. We need to finish what we started!
Finally, I was thinking about making a competition called SugarChamps, where contestants compete in a bracket by making variants or improving concepts, and in each round an anonymous voting process will decide who moves on. If you find this idea interesting and would like to participate, please comment [Y] under this post. If there will be at least 10 [Y]'s, I will make the test season of the competition.
