The Speed Chess Championship kicked off on October 12 and all of it has been building to one moment: the Live Finals on February 8, 2026, in London. This is Chess.com’s biggest speed chess event of the year, bringing together the world’s best to answer one question—who is the greatest speed chess player on the planet?

After a thrilling Round of 16 and Quarterfinals, only four players are left standing. And yes, it’s that lineup: GM Magnus Carlsen vs. GM Denis Lazavik, and GM Hikaru Nakamura vs. GM Alireza Firouzja.
