Season 5 Sweet 16 Results
Well, this past week has been a bit of a mess. Forfeit after forfeit, (maybe that's why we got rid of the otherwise superior format for a while) @Don not judging for at least a century, and people blaming me for it (shoutout to @nbrasington for getting his backup results in around the same time as don finally judging), and just chaos overall. Can we tone it down a bit? You guys make a fool of yourselves every week over this, and the worst offenders either aren't competing or have forfeit wins! You think you guys would have a bit more patience, but I digress. Stop being poopooheads, that's all I have to say.
Anywho, we had four forfeit wins, I think that's a record. I'm rather disappointed, we had more forfeits than actual matchups! Anyways I'll run through the list:
@Eagle got banned for cheating (they found out he used Google Image search) so @2000Knights moves on.
@DavidLi left the club, so @HenryUrbanek moves on. (Even though he didn't post, but we'll let it slide this time)
@Pirate knew they were doomed anyways so they succumbed to their fate, and @Nimzo-IndianaJones moves on.
@DiscworldAndKnownSpace returned to hibernation, so @Porcccy gets a free win. :0
@Bid got sick, so we got cheated out of a great matchup; @1cbb moves on.
And now for the actual matchups:
@Taken did well but @Astro_TheoreticalPhysics is on another level. Astro won this 4-1.
@SavageOppress vs. HornetCruise was expected to be almost a walkthrough for Hornet, as Savage was assumed to be not on that level yet. However, he massively exceeded expectations and went off against Hornet, but Hornet didn't slouch either. This matchup went down to the last vote (Don), but ultimately Hornet won 3-2.
The closest (and most controversial) matchup was @Xhive24 vs. @ChessUnlockedOfficial (@YEAT). We were tied up at 2-2 when I found out that Yeat edited his thumbnail and some details after the deadline, which is illegal without permission. We were debating what to do with this information (namely how hard to punish yeat) when Don finally judged, and it was for... Xhive. Therefore we avoided that Hornet's nest and Xhive moves on.
