Should you play rapid or blitz? A study

Today I asked myself a question that probably a lot of chess players have asked: Which chess mode is the best between rapid and blitz?

I did some research and I am ready to answer this question.

Little reminder: Blitz is 5, 3+2 and 3 minutes  whilst Rapid is 10, 15+10 or 30 minutes

In my opinion, blitz is a gamemode more for fun, whilst rapid games are often more serious, with more tactics and brilliancies because of the higher time control. Because of that, rapid is the best gamemode to get better at the game. It also gives the players less time pressure. Blitz, on the other hand, allows the player to progress fast if you play against weaker opponents.

Overall, I think you should mainly play rapid, and once you get pretty hight, get to that level in blitz.
