Step out of the shadows

After 40 years of retirement from tournament chess, I decided to once again, get involved in high level chess.  1984 was the last proper chess competition, that I played!  I have played games in other countries since then, including a charity game vs a GM in USA, however nothing that involved prize money or rankings.

Chess has moved on in that time, its great to not have to rely on dusty tombs from library shelves, to learn more openings etc.  The Internet has changed the game completely, though the game still retains its classical origins.  Its great to see kasparov and karpov involved in the game still, sadly bobby fischer has passed away.

I look forward to being involved in the scene in Northern England, and perhaps helping to develop the scene here.  It is my intention to also try and reach out to various Northumberland based clubs, and see the age range of the membership  eg Morpeth etc

Hope that we can build a friendly community, and all benefit from it moving forwards.
