Sunday chat with SchevalierChess
-Budapest,Hungary
Castlers I traveled to Budapest to get a quick couple of quotes from the number 1 ranked player in Let’s Castle SchevalierChess and see how he felt about competing in his first LC Finals and competing for his first LC title. After arriving in Budapest International airport I tried to secure a rental car. Unfortunately the only car I could afford with my budget was a
1973 Ford Pinto. I was told stay out of rear end collisions because the vehicle is liable to explode if hit from behind. I assured them I will try my best and signed official document promising I wouldn’t sue them if the car exploded while driving. I then drove to the building where SchevalierChess resides. He lives in a lavish Penthouse on the top floor. After handing the valet my keys he took the keys and looked at my car. A grimace slowly formed on his face as if I was handing him a napkin stained with boogers. He eased in behind the wheel slowly and drove off to park the car. As he drove off I could have sworn I saw him crying. Oh well, I quickly made my way inside and took the elevator to the top floor. When the elevator doors opened a butler was there to greet me and directed me to the living room
and that’s where I saw SchevalierChess sitting on his couch. He immediately got up and extended his hand to welcome me. I told him I did not want to take up much of his time and had only three questions for him because I have to catch the next Spirit airlines
back to the states. He assured me he understood and offered me lunch. As he said that a gorgeous Hungarian maid
entered laying down a tray of delicious looking stew
called Pörkölt. I forgot my manners and inhaled my stew ( and his ) right in front of SchevalierChess. A loud burp escaped my mouth and I quickly said excuse me. That was very embarrassing. SchevalierChess let out a chuckle and said “I guess they don’t feed you on Spirit airlines huh?” I told him they offered a bologna sandwich
but I turned it down, I’m sorry for my behavior.”He waved it off as if to say no problem and I started my interview.
Just before I started my first question SchevalierChess nodded to the Hungarian maid and she did a quick curtsy, spun on her heel and sashayed out of the living room with the tray of finished stew bowls with hips moving side to side.
Me: SchevalierChess this is Eledef07 for let’s castle chess, I’d like to congratulate you on an outstanding performance in round 1 of the Independence Day tournament going 14 and 0! As you wait for your opponent in round 2 is there a regimen you follow to help you stay ready to compete?
Schevalierchess: What do you exactly mean by regimen? A diet, a system of training, or something else?
Me: yes that’s exactly what I mean 😊
He took time to ponder but I interrupted his train of thought. You don’t have to divulge
Me:SchevalierChess is there a player you would prefer to play in group 2 maybe a Ydtd, Juanitamann or Gstrong100 maybe?
Schevalierchess:Since I don't have any influence on the results of group 2, it doesn't really matter who my opponent will be. But of course it would be an honor to play the many time champion, Ydtd.
Me: Last question sir, SchevalierChess you have been ranked number 1 in the club now for 36 straight weeks, however Ydtd is the current club champ is there any trepidation if you do end up competing against him in the final round next round?
ShevalierChess: I would prefer using the word excitement, because I can see that this match between Ydtd and me is a long anticipated encounter. It is nice to win games, but I don't feel the need to prove my abilities, so I just hope for some interesting games.
I then told him that’s a great mentality to have thanked him for his time shook hands and before you know it I was headed back to the airport to make my return flight on spirit.
