Nabokov did visit Acropolis in 1919.
According to Nabokov's biographer Brian Boyd, "to the young poet, the Acropolis seemed divine and he promptly wrote a poem about it as he sat on a marble flagstone, amid the pale poppies growing between crumbled remains."
I quote a few lines from this poem in Russian:
Я в первый раз Акрополь посещал...
Убогий грек со стразом на мизинце,
все добросовестно мне объясняя,
вводил меня в разрушенные храмы
своих непостижимых предков.
