Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2021
Today at 13:00 GMT round 11/13 is starting in the Tata Steel Chess. I have been following it from day 1, watching it during my lunch break and after school.
Here are the standings:
Anish Giri, who won round 9 and 10, is in sole lead with an impressive 7/10, but Andrey Esipenko, Fabiano Caruana and Alireza Firouzja are on his tail with just half a point lower than him, on 6.5. On 6 points is Jorden Van Foreest and suprisingly the World Champion Magnus Carlsen is only in 6th place with 5.5 points, a whole 1.5 off Anish Giri the leader. He has won 2 games but took a suprise loss against Andrey Esipenko. Anybody in 7th place or lower don't really have a chance to win any more, so I won't go through them, although you can have a look at them in the image above.
It's all very close in the top 5, and with 3 more rounds to go anything can happen!
If you want to watch it you can go to The Tata Steel Website, or Chess.com TV.
Round 11/13 started 30 minutes ago but don't worry, games usually last until about 18:00 GMT!
