TCC96 Results and news!
Happy Fall Temecula Chess Club members!
Just a friendly reminder we have a 5 min blitz tournament every Monday at 6pm (at Temecula Chess Club) it is 6 rounds - is usually completed approx in 90 mins. ($10 to play, must have current uscf membership) - there is prizes for 1st and 2nd place
Also we have a month long tournament every month with 2 rounds played each Tuesday at 7pm ay G45+5 ($20 to play, must have current uscf membership) - there is prizes for 1st and best under 1600

and some News from last month!
TCC 96 was our strongest and biggest monthly tournament in it's history with 25 players competing and an average rating far beyond anything we've seen. What made it extra special though, was who won the categories. With all the formidable favorites participating both categories were won by underdogs and longtime TCC family players John Williams and Evan Zhao. Evan took the under 1600 prize over many players rated way above him and John won the whole dang thing despite 2 NMs, 1 CM and several others around the 2000 mark. No one would have bet on either to take the prizes but they both ran the gauntlet of tough opposition with tenacious grace. Both are well loved here and it was special to see them come through. Our very own Chris Roberts had the DGT boards recording and broadcasting just to add to the wonderful moment.
And now we wonder what TCC 97 will bring!
