Daniel Naroditsky Memorial Chess Rapids

In honor of legendary chess streamer, commentator, chess teacher and rapid chess phenom, dearly departed Daniel Naroditsky, the Silverdale Chess Club will launch a tribute tournament in two short weeks. Along with trophies, special Naroditsky mementos will be awarded for biggest game upset (by rating differential) and impressive "winning moves."
A portion of each entry fee will be donated to help meet the $4 million goal of the Daniel Naroditsky Memorial & Fellowship Endowment to support chess education and competition in connection with the Charlotte Chess Center.
What: A 5-Round, U.S. Chess-rated, Rapid Chess Event paying tribute to the legacy of Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky and played at the faster time control that was his passion.
When: All rounds to be played on Saturday, Jan 10, 2026. Rounds at 12:15, 1:30, 3:00, 4:30 and 6:00 pm or earlier by consensus if all games are completed.
Time Control: 30/30, 30 minutes for 30 moves, with a 10-second increment, followed by "sudden death” game over in 30 minutes w/10 sec. increment.
Awards: Trophies awarded to Top Three Finishers and Top Junior (under age 15) plus Naroditsky mementos.

Please note; We are expecting a large turnout. Please bring your standard US Chess set and board, and a digital clock if you have them. Time increments will be waived if all of our digital clocks are in use and no digital clocks are otherwise available.

What: A 6-Round, U.S. Chess-rated, Classical Chess Event on Saturdays at 3:00om
When: One round per week beginning either Saturday Jan 10 or Jan 17m, 2026. Play in any round!
Time Control: 40 moves in 90 mins., w 10- sec. increment, followed by "sudden death" in 60 minutes w/10 sec. increment.
When: Rounds to be played on regular Silverdale Chess Club meeting dates, First round can be deferred one week later if playing the the Naroditsky event. Rounds on Jan 10, 2026, Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31, Feb 7, Feb 14, 2026.
Awards: Trophies awarded to Top two Finishers and Top Junior (under age 15).
