The Concept of Force
FORCE
What is force?
Force is the strength of your chess army. For example, if you and your opponent all have the same number of pieces on the board, except you have one more pawn than he does, you have an advantage of force, also known as a material advantage.
You can calculate your material advantage by the point values that are traditionally assigned chess pieces. Here they are:
o = 1 point
m = 3 points
v = 3 points
t = 5 points
w = 9 points
l = Infinite value since the loss of this piece means the loss of the game.
· Using the point value system is a good gauge on the strength of your army compared to your opponent.
· Use this system to find out how you can gain an advantage on your opponent.
