The History of OOF

OOF. An interesting word. I have it as a part of my username. But you may wonder, what does this word mean? What is the history of this word. Well today, I will explain this. If all starts when language was invented, and standard noises were used to communicate. Onomatopoeia words to be exact. (An onomatopoeia word is a word that is a sound like KABOOM, POW, or OOF) We can presume OOF was said at this time. Now let us fast forward to March 29, 2000. This is the initial release date of a little game called “Messiah.” You play as an Angel sent by god to save the world. In this game, there is a cutscene. A cutscene that no one new would have such an impact on the world. Our main character is falling, hits the ground for a harsh landing. 6 years later on September 1, 2006, a game called “Roblox” comes out. In this game, game you die, it uses the OOF sound. Now here is where it begins. OOF becomes heavily memes upon. It becomes popularized. But then the developers of Messiah find out that Roblox stole their sound. So they made a deal. Roblox would have the OOF sound for 10 more years. Then Messiah would take it back. And those years are up. OOF is now gone, but will forever remain in our hearts. - @MrOOFChess
