The MANX TARTAN

FYI: The MANX have their own Tartan registered with the Celtic Clans of Scotland.  It's called the Isle of Man (Laxey Manx) Tartan whose colours each symbolise a different facet of the Manx landscape: blue for the sky, purple for the heather, yellow for the gorse, green for the hills and white for the traditional whitewashed crofts.

Ellan Vannin fought in many many wars as celtic brethren alongside the Scots against the English.  She was a thorn in the side of the English Kings.  The Manx at the height of their power nothing moved across the Sea of Mann without their permission..  Nowadays called the Irish Sea.  To this day IOM remains a captive of the British Crown.  Her title is 'a British Crown Dependency'.  The Queen retains her boot upon the neck of Ellan Vannin as 'Lord over the Mann'.  For this honor IOM must pay tribute yearly to the British Crown by Law as 'protection money' against foreign invaders.

A most dangerous part of the world indeed.
