How it Works / Who’s Eligible: The Silverdale Chess Club “Summer of 2025” Club Championship is open to all current USCF-rated players with an active US Chess membership. The tournament will take place over the next 8-12 weeks according to a “floating round-robin” format. Each round will have a “Classical Chess” time format of Game 90 + 30 which means each player has 90 minutes of base time plus a 30-second increment after each move.
How do the Pairings Work? Each player will be paired against the eight players in closest proximity to their rating, either higher or lower, according to the preference of the higher rated player. For example, a player whose rating places them in the number 4 seed position at the start of the tournament would play eight opponents seeded in one of the following positions: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 (and/or) 10, 11 and 12. over the eight rounds. A player whose starting rating places them at #10 would play a total of eight opponents, each with one of these seeds: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 , 17 and 18.
Players can join or leave the tournament at any time without disrupting the overall structure.
Since it is a Round-Robin format, there is no particular order in which the games must be played. Each week any player can meet up with any one of the opponents in their rating range of 8 opponents and play their game. Recorded games are encouraged.
Prizes: Trophies will be awarded for the Top Overall Scorer as “Club Champion”, and for Juniors under the age of 14.
Entry Fee: An entry fee of $10 along with proof of current US Chess membership is required before the first round.

Hats off to Silverdale Chess Club Junior Liam Glaser who scored 4.5/5 at the 2025 Wa State Elementary Chess Championships in the 5th Grade section. His trophy was very impressive as were his results!
