Upcoming Tournament: New West Chess Open 2018

Hey tournament players! Consider checking out the second annual New West Chess Open, to be held in beautiful New Westminster BC this Thanksgiving long weekend (Oct. 7-9). This will be a CFC-rated classical tournament. You can expect a well-organized and fun event, held at a convenient location. Check out the details courtesy of the tournament website:

**EARLY BIRD DEADLINE SEPT. 16** REGISTER

When: Oct. 6-8, 2018

Where: Rm. 118, Royal City Center, 610 Sixth St, New Westminster

Format: 6 round Swiss tournament (two games per day); 90 minutes + 30 second increment

• Swiss system
  6 rounds, G/90+30 time control
• CFC rated
  You need a valid CFC membership ( Renew or buy annual CFC membership)
• Sections
  Premier / U1800 / U1200
  (Subject to merge in case less than 40 total entries or less than 10 entries any section.)
• Prize
  $2000 in total, $600 for first place (based on 60 paid entries)
  In case a GM is coming, (if registered before Sep 29th), the prizes will be raised, for example $1000 for first place, $600 for second place and etc.
• Entry fee
  Early Bird, $70 (by Sep 16th)
  Regular, $90
  Second paid entry in same family, less $20
  Third (and up) paid entry in same family, less $40
  Play up a section (lifetime high within 100 rating points), add $20
  Play up a section (lifetime high within 200 rating points), add $40
  Free for GM/WGM/IM/WIM
  Deadline of online registration will be 24 hours before the first round.
  
  On site registration will be accepted at $100 before first round; if registering before 9:45am, players will still be paired for the first round, otherwise get a potluck pairing (against someone else registering late) or a half-point bye.
