Update!
Our Algeria U1800 slowly comes closer to an end with my opponent timing out in one game and finally falling behind a pawn in the other. With a past pawn and double rooks targeting and isolated pawn, I should be able to grind them down – definitely necessary if we want to win!
We’ve slammed back Iceland to draw equal and the weight is now on @Cam926's shoulders to win our match. He’s three points up but there’s still quite a bit of work to do in this U1200 game.
The U1600 Czech Republic match is a lot harder, swaying in their favour 3.4 – 4.5. @gormcla2 is battling for the points, but slipping up to a disclosed attack on the queen has put her three points behind and an open king. Still, her rooks are nicely doubled and might come into play. Good luck!
With so many matches equal, it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s the same for the U1000 Italian! Three points each, everyone has shown they have the ability to win and lose, so its up to @Gelert46 to finish them off (or get us the draw). There’s still too much play to comment on either, except he’s a point up in one and a point down in the other.
On the brighter side, our U1400 is slamming into Finland with a four point lead. @carloshalpinos and @nukaquantum wiped the floor with their opponents (not that @carloshalpinos is down 3 points away from 1400 and we’ll soon loose him from the U1400s), whilst @Yaaaxcomigen had a beautiful two rook and knight mate in one and fell to the seventh rank queen and rook mate in the other. Just one point will see us winning the match and with @greg-griffiths and @davejohnlucas winning three of their two games this should be accomplished.
The next Open has started, taking on Spain, and the first win has already been achieved by our board five. I caught my opponent out with a disclosed attack on the queen (the same trick @gormcla2 fell for) but so far I’ve managed to blunder a minor piece in the other due to an overloaded piece. Beginner errors…
Finally, our U1600 Armenia match just started two days ago so plenty of play to go. Good luck to @bigbeck85, @Andrew4949, @carloshalpinos, @nukaquantum and @greg-griffiths.
Other notes to have: I’ve closed the Bosnia U1000 match as they weren’t putting out a team. Instead Bulgaria have a team read so we need at least one more player (@MatthRyan2004, @7sistersboy, @Tinytim1234567891011, @FamilyOfChesses, @DylanGY these are the ones you’re definitely needed for). Our U1800 is ready to go for the 31st (@Mjrbeck you’re our only top team player left to enter). We’ve actually got three U1200 teams set up! Japan have just three set up, as do we, so all our U1200s (aside from @Yaaaxcomigen, @gormcla2 and @IeuanBrew) make sure you join up. Israel only have two up and we have a full team. It might be useful to have a couple more 1000+ involved if Cameron or @davejohnlucas can play. Last off, which would be an interesting match, is a game against the Isle of Man. They have three players, so its probably going to happen, and we have a team of four already. Having a few more 1000+ in would be useful again. I might cancel one of these if its not going anywhere with signing up (in relation to the other team) but as two have three of the minimum of four already this is only likely to happen in the Israel match.
One last question is does anyone know who @Azume74 or @dadchesssq2 are? Gareth, is the later you? As I understand it @Gelert46 is Emyr, @FamilyOfChesses is Harrison and @Berny2612 is Angel. I know everyone else!
