US Chess League Updates (and new match forming now)
Seasons Greetings Team Wisconsin,
Our Badgers are Big 10 Champs and in the Rose Bowl, the Green Bay Packers are Super Bowl Champs and favored to repeat, the Brewers are NL Central Champs, and as we approach Round 5, Team Wisconsin still controls its own destiny in the US Chess League. Life it good.
Granted since the last update we suffered our first loss of the year to last year's number 2 finalists and this year's leaders, Washington; but we are battling hard and are still very much in it against last year's champs New Jersey.
In our biggest match of the season thus far, we currently trail New Jersey 10-13 with 18.5 needed to win, so if you are in this match know every half point matters. I know I'm concerned about my 2 points withstanding :(
Imortant news from this current match includes: welcome to the team curt1969! He joins us from Green Bay and managed to score 2 points in his first ever Team Wisconsin match. It's also nice to see DMM back in the last 2 team matches! Well played DMM. (And we need you in our next match against Texas :)
Also I just noticed that Team Wisconsin stalwat, Coondog, scored his 2nd point of the NJ match. Nice one brother.
Our Round 5 match against Texas is now forming. Texas is a tough team with the same record as us, but they are not amongst the elite like NJ and WA. We will beat them with a proper tunrout from us. So with a slight comeback win against NJ and a victory over TX we'll be in the drivers seat to earn a rematch against Washington and a shot at the US Chess League title!
