I am pleased to announce the opening of the Valentine's Day Contest! For 48 hours, from now until 14 February at 23:59 Hawaii Time (follow it here: Time in Honolulu, Hawaii now), the submission forum will be open to anyone* who would like to submit their blog to this amazing festival.

This is the first time the staff have organised something outside of the usual seasons, so we hope for a good participation rate. This would motivate us to create more events on other special dates.

Remember that if we receive at least 10 entries, the next event will be held on April Fool's! (1 April 2026).

*Except people competing in the Terrific Twelve of Season 10.

RULES

The post must be about chess and also be related to Valentine’s Day in some way. That's the only general requirement; everything else is up to the writer. Get creative and surprise us!

The judges are @VOB96, @KevinChessSmith, and @PokeGirl93. They will read all blogs and choose their favorites based on:

• As usual, the blogging basics like thumbnail, title, writing, editing, research, etc.
• But since this is a special contest and the topic is more or less defined, we will also give some more importance than usual to originality, creativity, different approaches that few people would think of... that kind of stuff.

PRIZES

Bronze: I will mention your blog in my next post on 1 March.

Silver: The same as for 3rd place + you will be a judge at the Blogger Awards in March (or at any other month if March is not possible).

Gold: The same as the 3rd and 2nd prizes + one of the chess books written by @KevinChessSmith at your choice!
