Vote Chess Update!

Calling all Vote Chess players! Today we're doing our initial roll-out of a completely refurbished Vote Chess interface, and we need your help to test it, of course!

There's not much to say about it, really. Functionally, it should work pretty much as always, but look and feel better. As you can see above, though, there is one nice new detail: You can see your vote - or your whole team's votes, as appropriate - represented on the board itself with arrows, whenever you have the Votes tab selected. (If you're on the Moves or Info tab, we keep the board clean.) The arrow colors are more solid for popular moves, more transparent for those with fewer votes. Pretty cool!

There is also one small known issue: If you click on one of your opponent's moves in the Archive, you'll jump to the current move. (What's supposed to happen is... nothing.  ) We'll address this shortly!

Please let us know what you think - and what bugs you find - in the Comments below!

Thank you!

UPDATE - 2020-11-12

Thanks, guys! Because it's late and there are no further deployments today, I'm going to roll this back till tomorrow morning and see where we are at.

  • Issue with inaccessible tabs is fixed, but needs to be deployed
  • Issue with arrows for opponent votes is fixed, but needs to be deployed
  • Issue with game clock will be addressed soon.

I've searched for tickets related to VC notifications and have found several, some that have seen fixes applied, but if there are still widespread issues with notifications then they obviously weren't successful. (I have been seeing notifications for the games I'm playing, so it's not happening consistently.) I have created a new ticket so that we can research and fix this too.

UPDATE - 2020-11-19

Ok! Sorry for the delay, but we're back in business to give Vote Chess v5 another kick! We have addressed issues with vote visibility, clocks, and the Archive tab. We found a couple of other bugs along the way, where the board tried to represent votes to draw or resign by drawing crazy arrows on the board.  That is fixed now too.

Please let us know what you think!

Thanks again.

UPDATE - 2020-11-19

Rolled back to fix an issue with Chess960 Vote games...

UPDATE - 2020-11-24

Ok! We're back in business with the UI updates to Vote Chess. We've hopefully resolved our issues with 960 games and things are looking better in general. Please let us know what you find... Thank you!
