Weekend Scheduling Changes

Weekend Scheduling Changes

Greetings, fellow chess players.

(All times mentioned in this are US Eastern Time (NY))

In pursuit of supporting "slow chess" in cooperation with other groups, we are going to experiment with our weekend schedule. As you may know, the Slow Chess League schedules two-round 45|45 tournaments on Saturdays and Sundays (U1500 at 12:30pm, and Open at 12:45pm). We don't want to interfere with that, so we have decided to temporarily avoid scheduling any weekend tournaments before 5pm. If you have a strong desire to play slow chess during mid-day, we encourage you to join the SCL tourneys. (We're not in competition, after all).

Three additional thoughts:

1. Please help grow our membership. Yes, we have 15K listed members, but, it's very obvious that a very high percentage of them are very inactive (or else all of our tournaments would be full!).

2. What do we think of a longer tournament? Might we try a three-rounder one day? Perhaps on a day over the December holidays?

3. Anything else?

As always, we do listen to input. We look forward to reading your comments below.
