What is Global Warming?

Global warming is a huge problem. And we need to stop it. But how do we even stop it if we don't even know what it is?

Good question.

Global warming starts when you drive a car. It might seem harmless, but when you're driving a car you're emitting a greenhouse gas called Co2. Greenhouse gases warm up the earth, creating global warming. However, Co2 - otherwise known as carbon dioxide - is probably the greenhouse gas you'll hear the most. Other greenhouse gases are: methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

Greenhouse gases warm up the earth, creating global warming.

But the first question that will pop up in your head is: Why is this bad? Good question.

Imagine an ice cube. If you put it outside on a hot sunny day, it'll melt. So imagine the world being the ice cube and the greenhouse gases being the sun. The greenhouse gases will make all the ice on earth melt.

But what's the problem with this? The ice on earth melting is causing polar bears, penguins, and other artic animals to loose their home due to the hot weather. Also, since the ice is melting, it means more water. And think of all the ice on earth. Take Russia, for example. It has a lot of ice and snow. Antarctica and the north pole are full of ice and/or snow. There is a lot of ice on the earth, and it all might melt due to global warming. The sea levels are rising due to this.

And more sea means that more water will be evaporated which means that there will be more rain which means... More hurricanes. Yes, more hurricanes. I've never been in a hurricane myself, but I'm sure some of the members in this club have. But whether you've been in a hurricane or not, you probably know about the fierce winds and the house floodings.

Also, when the world is warming up, it'll eventually be too hot to live in. In other words, earth would become unlivable.

Unlivable.

Shocking, right? That's why we have to stop global warming. That's why we have to come to together. That's why we have to join together. That's why this club exists.

Thank you for being in this club. We are one small step closer to stopping global warming.
