Why We Value Fair Play
First, we are truly thrilled that you all have joined our Club. We are excited that you are here, and we're looking forward to watching your skill at chess improve as you gain more experience through our tournaments. There are lots of ways of getting better at chess, but did you know that one of the BEST ways to improve is by making mistakes? It's true! When we make mistakes, we can learn from them and when we do, our skill grows and we start to play better chess! When we make mistakes and learn from them, we start winning more!
Now, we've all lost chess games before and we can all agree on one thing: it doesn't feel good to lose. However, as long as we play fairly and are good sports, we can hold our head high, win or lose. But if we are afraid of making mistakes and decide that we're not going to play fairly, we can never hold our head high, even if we win the game. Why is that? Because if we had to cheat to win, we didn't really win, did we?
While we seriously doubt any of you would ever cheat, we do need to make sure everyone knows: if Chess.com catches you cheating, they will ban you from the site and you won't be able to play in any more of our tournaments.
Let's all agree then: we will always play fairly, be nice to our opponent, and be good sports whether we win or lose. Chess is a lot more fun when we do!
