Wojo wins Double Nickels
Swojnowski was the winner of Double Nickels XVII, Tijuanaboomboom was second and Culjakben got third out of the four players.
Round 1 began with Swojnowski vs Culjakben's Sicilian. Wojo sacked a bishop for positional play apparently distracting Ben, and allowing Swojnowski to go up four points, and easily winning.
Round 1 also began with Juice declining TJBB's Englund Gambit, taking the advantage when TJ hung a knight early. Juice soon blundered his own knight then lost a tough endgame after multiple devastating checks.
In Round 2, TBB tried a delayed Alapin vs top seed Swojnowski's Sicilian. TBB blundered a pawn early but managed to win it back later in the game. After several piece giveaways by both players, Wojo won on a dirty flag.
Round 2 also had Culjakben playing white against Juice. The opening was well-played, but Culjakben managed to trap Juice's bishop in a sneaky attack. Culjakben kept the piece advantage until move 90, where Juice resigned in a hopeless position.
The last round began with Swojnowski playing white against Juice. Juice defended the opening well until a bishop sacrifice by Swojnowski, gave him checkmate in one.
Round 3 also featured Culjakben playing white against TBB. The opening was solid until Culjakben blundered a fork, then hung his queen. After a few moves, Ben resigned, being almost 8 points down.
