WORLD CITIES LEAGUE (WCL) 2025 ROUND 1 vs MEXICO CITY
Round 1 of the 2025 World Cities League (WCL) and we are off across the Atlantic for our opening match against Mexico City. Having sat out the 2024 iteration of the WCL we start with a clean slate in Division 4, which is split into five parallel groups with the top two teams gaining promotion at the end of the season to Division 3.
Our opponents are a big club with over 1,000 members (32 with online daily ratings of 1700+), having played 735 events in their domestic competition, the WCL, the World City Cup and various OBT tournaments. On paper at least very strong opposition. However, in the 2024 WCL they returned a played 9, won 3, lost 6 record, so potentially we have a good chance of a positive round 1 result.
The first league match in our 2025 Open League tournaments, with the opening rounds of European Cities League (ECL) and County Championship to follow in the next couple of months.
