Your chess goal
Hi everyone!
Whether you just play chess for fun, hobby, or maybe you want to be a Grandmaster, we all love chess. It's a great game in which we improve ourselves: our way of thinking, memory, creativity, concentration, problem-solving skills...
I would like to start this new topic. What are your personal chess goals? Is there a rating you want to reach, opening you want to perfect, some chess buddy you want to beat... This would also be a good way to share your advice of how you developed as a chess player to other people.
My personal chess goal at the start of the year was to reach 1600. At that time I was between 1200-1300. Around March I started to focus on my tactics on Tactic trainer. It was tough, but these exercises help you recognize patterns in chess, and understand tactical problems. This helped improve my game a LOT. In two months I went from 1300 to 1600, beating 1800+ players several times. Now I am around 1700 rating (my highest 1723).
I also used one or two openings for e4 or d4 as black, and mainly used e4 openings as white. This helped improving patterns and position, see mistakes I made, and that helped my game. My new goal is to reach 1800 some day.
So my advice would be to stick with one or two openings, and to focus on Tactic trainer.
