Now you can turn your recreational chess practice into an official U.S. Chess Rating on your way to becoming a rated Class A, B or C player, a chess expert, chess master, and beyond.
Introducing Insta-Quads and Triads — an “always-available" opportunity to play U.S.-rated chess games at the Silverdale Chess Club. Play three rapid games against three other players in an “Instant-Quad", or play against two other players in an “Instant Triad.”
If you’re a newcomer to chess, or have been languishing at a low starter rating, you know it can take a long time to build a U.S. Chess rating that resembles a Chess.com or LiChess.org
rating. What is missing, especially in Kitsap County, is the opportunity to play in events that are U.S. Chess rated and that reflect your actual chessplaying ability.
The Insta-Quad is a four-player, three-round, Dual-rated event that is created at any Chess Club meetup “on the spot.” You will be paired with three other players at your same skill level on the spot. The Insta-Triad is a two-round match (with one bye) against two other players,.
The Quad or Triad time control is 30 minutes per game, also called Game 30.. At this time control, players will receive a Dual rating, both a US Chess “Q” (“Quick) rating and an ”R” “Regular" (Dual) rating.
The SCC will still host larger tournaments including Swiss System tournaments, and thematic chess competitions, some at the Classical Chess time control of 40 moves in 90 minutes that typically involve one game per week over several weeks.
The Club will also host individual chess matches on a rated basis. If you have a rival in mind for a one-on-one chess match, please let us know to establish the number of games and the time control.

New Netflix Chess Movie Premieres
“The Queen of Chess” —
the Judit Polgar Story
A different kind of sequel to “The Queen’s Gambit,” one of the most popular Netflix series of all time, has just debuted on the Netflix streaming channel for your viewing pleasure.
Instead off a fictitious dramatization like “The Queen’s Gambit,” “The Queen of Chess,” is the true-life story of Judit Polgar, the strongest female chess player of all time.
The movie provides a rare look at Judit’s home-schooled training with her sisters, (Susan and Sofia), and her rise to become the world's youngest Grandmaster of all time, male or female. The film also spotlights her historic clash against then world champion, Garry Kasparov.
No spoiler alerts here. Pop the popcorn and stream it for yourself on Netflix!
