Having its founders a Trojan origin, according to some classical sources it is correct to hypothesize a foundation of the city connected to the Greek world. This legend presents Aeneas (prince of Troy), who became king after marrying the daughter of the Latin king, as the progenitor of Romulus and Remus.

We find this interpretation of the history of the city not only in Greek sources but also in Latin texts, which attributed it to an archaic origin, according to the myth of Evander and Odysseus and Ulysses. In this way, Greek historiography sought to give a divine genesis to the founding of Rome.
