In 1857, in an Opera House in Europe, the American chess master Paul Morphy and two strong amateurs, the German noble Duke Karl of Brunswick and the French aristocrat Count Isouard, who consulted, playing together as partners against Morphy(Google).

My vague memory of this game came returned when I lost to the same manoevres that the good Duke and Count did, this 150 anniversary-year of that famous game.

Watch, as White plays brilliantly against my blunder-free best effort.  And see if you can spot the forced checkmate five or six moves out....

After the game, check the original execution of this idea at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_game
