Are You A Chess Expert? Take Our Quiz
You definitely like chess. But are you an expert?
No, I am not talking about the USCF title you get when your USCF rating is above 2000 but less than 2200 (which is the master title). You can be a USCF expert but not a true expert of chess and vice-versa.
Confused? Don't be, it is really simple!
An expert is a person who has comprehensive and authoritative knowledge in a particular area. For example, show any true art expert this image:
and he will instantly say "American Gothic."
Similarly, we can test if you are a true chess expert. I am going to give you a small fragment of a position from famous chess games and you should name the games.
Ready? Let's go!
Position #1.
- fewer than 3 games -- You need to study more classical games.
- 3-5 games -- You are most probably a USCF expert, but still not an expert that I described in the beginning of the article.
- 6-8 games -- You are a chess expert.
- 9-10 games -- You are a true connoisseur and chess is your middle name.
