Chess Played Quick is a monthly event where streamers do live speed runs using Chess.com's features.

Chess Played Quick: Puzzle Battle World Championship Qualifier is a special edition of the event starting on January 5 at 9 a.m. PST/18:00 CET. This month, CPQ features top streamers solving puzzles to compete for their share of the $15,000 prize fund and four spots in the 2022 Puzzle Battle World Championship on January 6.

Format

The event consists of a three-hour puzzle speed run. Streamers compete in the Open and Under 2000 sections to achieve their highest puzzle rating and collect as many bounties as possible.

Prizes

Chess Done Quick: Puzzle Battle World Championship Qualifier has a $15,000 prize pool. In addition to the cash prize, the event's top-four players in the Open section qualify for the 2022 Puzzle Battle World Championship.

Bounties

Open Section Bounties

  • Solve 10 puzzles in a row in less than five seconds each: $250
  • Solve an Arabian Mate puzzle: $250
  • Solve Anastasia's Mate puzzle: $250
  • Solve a mate-in-7 puzzle: $250
  • Solve a puzzle that requires 12 or more moves: $250

Under 2000 Section Bounties

  • Solve 10 puzzles in a row in less than five seconds each: $250
  • Solve an Arabian Mate puzzle: $250
  • Solve Anastasia's Mate puzzle: $250
  • Solve a mate-in-5 puzzle: $250
  • Solve a puzzle that requires 10 or more moves: $250

Schedule

The event starts on January 5 at 9 a.m. PST/18:00 CET and lasts for three hours. The event's champion will play in the 2022 Puzzle Battle World Championship on January 6.

Rules And Signup

  • Players compete in two different sections (Open and Under 2000-rated) according to their main account's peak Chess.com blitz ratings
  • Only established streamers with at least five streams on Twitch or YouTube can play in the event
  • Players must stream their participation during the event
  • The first player to finish each task and send video proof collects the bounty. Only stream clips count as evidence for Twitch streamers, while YouTube streamers must provide Chess.com's staff with the exact time stamps if they can't make clips
  • Every competitor will start with a 400 puzzle rating
  • Only one player can participate per stream (dual-commentary is not allowed)
  • Players are not allowed to reset their puzzle ratings
  • Players must complete bounties in "Rated" mode without any hints
  • Players must sign up using the event's official application form—applications close 48 hours before the event.

The top four players who qualify for the 2022 Puzzle Battle World Chess Championship must be available between January 6, 2022, and January 9, 2022. If any of the qualified players are not available during that period they will be replaced by other players based on the event's standings.
