Chess Played Quick (CPQ) is Chess.com's series of events where top chess streamers complete bounties for prizes.

Chess Played Quick Spell Chess Edition happens on September 25 at 12 p.m. ET/18:00 CEST/21:30 p.m. IST. Top streamers perform a two-hour Spell Chess speed run. Players will be ranked according to their peak ratings at the end of the allocated two hours. They can earn points based on their placement and by completing different challenges. The event features 2000 Twitch/Kick subs as the prize fund.

Format

Players perform a two-hour speed run in the new Spell Chess variant. Players get points based on their placement at the end of the event (based on their peak spell chess rating) and via extra challenges. Games must be in the 3+2 time control, and challenges need to be completed in the order indicated below.

Challenges And Proof

Each challenge gives a different amount of points depending on its difficulty on a scale of one to three. Challenges need to be completed in the order indicated below. You can complete several challenges in a single game as long as they are completed in the right order (e.g., you can start by freezing three pieces with a single spell, then win that game in less than 15 moves). Five bonus points are awarded for every five completed challenges.

  1. Freeze three or more pieces with a single spell (pawns do not count): Easy, 1 point.
  2. Win a game in under 15 moves: Easy, 1 point.
  3. Win the game with a jump: Easy, 1 point.
  4. Freeze a single piece at any point during the game (pawns count as pieces for this challenge) and win. Easy, 1 point.
  5. Use a spell to get rid of a check: Easy, 1 point + 5 bonus points.
  6. Win a game after playing 1.d4: Medium, 2 points.
  7. Freeze the same piece three times in the same game: Medium, 2 points.
  8. Win a game after using all of your spells: Medium, 2 points.
  9. Jump over your king (you don't need to win): Medium, 2 points.
  10. Win a game while only playing a spell right after your opponent does (you don't have to play the same spell): Medium, 2 points + 5 bonus points.
  11. Win a game without using any freeze spell: Hard, 3 points.
  12. Promote a pawn at any point during the game and win: Hard, 3 points.
  13. Win a game without using any jump spell: Hard, 3 points.
  14. Start a game by freezing your own pieces and win: Hard, 3 points.
  15. Force a stalemate by freezing your opponent's last piece: Hard, 3 points + 5 bonus points.

Proof of completion must be sent for each successful challenge, with any proof working as long as it's clear. Examples of clear proof include:

  • Screenshots.
  • Clips.
  • VODs with timestamps.
