Felix and his 1.b3 repertoire
So let us look how Felix went on with his 1. b3- repertoire. You remember the first deviation in the black set-up in center (e5/d5)?
1. b3 e5 2. Lb2 d5 3. e3 Nc6 4. Bb5 Ld6 5. f4 f6 (black stabilizes the center)
The idea behind it is clear. White has attacked the center and black stabilizes it with f6 ( the alternatives 5. ...Qe7 and 5. Qh4 will be shown later)
Here Felix wasn`t satiesfied with the book recommandation. So he inserted the position into his engine. Finally with the help of rybka he found a way. White goes for long castling:
Felix was very satiesfied with his first step in building up an opening repertoire. He had found a concept in a critical book variation.
Immediately he wrote the variations down in his database. Then he stopped his work. Next time he would go on with 5. ...Qe7
It was time for a coffee! Or better a tea?
